Sold 2022 Grand Seiko SBGW287 Red Dial - Full Kit - $5375

Hey folks

Up today I have a forum first and a watch that I’ve yet to see come up for sale in the secondary market.

The dial of this masterfully crafted timepiece is a deep burgundy, said to be inspired by the rich autumn colors of Boshū, the ‘sekki’ or season when the trees that surround the Grand Seiko Shizukuishi Studio change in hue, announcing the onset of winter.

I’ve done my best to capture the transition of colour brought on by this dial and strap in various lighting, and will conclude that it holds a rather burnt burgundy/maroon tone for the most part.

While on wrist, it is like no other and is incredibly striking despite its 37.5mm sizing.

The hand wound 9S64 movement seen through the exhibition caseback boasts a 72 hour power reserve and an accuracy of +1s a day.

While I’ve seen and handled my fair share of red dials from Seiko to Oris to Ball, none have compelled me the way this one has.

The watch comes as a full kit and is in near mint condition with very minor signs of surface wear to the non crown case side.
