Hey Folks
Up today I have a rather unique timepiece for the CWC watch fam.
I’ve had the pleasure of owning and wearing this piece for a while and I have to admit that it is as unique as it is captivating.
The Ultra Chron moniker stems from “Ultra Chronometer” and is a reissue of the original 42mm Ultra Chron that featured a date at 3 o clock. I much prefer this time only aesthetic with the high bear 36,000 VPH cal L836.6 that was developed specifically by ETA for Longines.
At 43mm it reads like a big watch in paper but with a 48mm lug to lug, it wears more like a 41mm.
One of my favourite aspects of the watch is the sapphire bezel insert that is lumed at the zero-marker triangle, as well as at the 15, 30, and 45-minute markers; the rest of the fully graduated scale on the bezel has several layers of anti-reflective coating on both sides and is slightly recessed and filled with red lacquer which ties in perfectly with the red minute hand.
The watch is in near mint condition with no discernible signs of wear.
Purchased at a local AD, it comes as a full kit with booklet, warranty and TIMELAB card which certifies it as an “ultra chronometer” as well as with the tool and extra nato strap. Watch retails for $4500 + Tax and can be had here for $3650 plus shipping (bear in mind this is a massive box so f2f is ideal)
