I bought this piece earlier this week from CanadaDave (https://canwatchco.ca/threads/meraud-bonaire-mkii-current-version.102105/) I received it yesterday (not because he was slow at sending, but because I was hung up in hospital). Anyways, it is a stunner!! Sadly, I‘m finding it slightly too large for my 5.9” wrists, which seem to have shrunk and are now limiting my watch choices.

So I’m basically flipping this watch, but at the same price that CanadaDave sold It to me: $1,500, with David’s kind permission to use his copy and his photos. Those are his manly wrists, not mine 😂. From here on it’s Dave’s language, with a few inserts from me:

This stunning Meraud Bonaire “Onyx Black” diver was recently purchased brand new (by Dave) from the Meraud Watch Co. for just under $CDN2,000, landed, including duties, taxes and the Meraud-signed black tropic strap that I bought as part of the same order. This tropic strap makes the watch more versatile, although the bracelet is exceptionally well-engineered and is extremely comfortable on the wrist. The strap has never been worn.

This is the second-generation Bonaire released by this European microbrand in 2024, known as the MkII. It has much improved aesthetics and specs over the first-generation Bonaire that had been released six years earlier in 2018.

Great dimensions at 39/12.2/48.6. Real (not faux) bracelet rivets on a tapered oyster-style bracelet with quick-adjust, machined and signed clasp; drilled lugs for easy bracelet/strap swaps; Swiss La Joux-Perret automatic movement w/ 68hr power reserve and 200m WR; and a magnificent-looking vintage-inspired bezel/dial combination. Indeed the domed acrylic bezel is reminiscent of the Fifty Fathoms. The aforementioned features, and the fit and finish throughout this watch -- from movement to bracelet and in between -- and even the high-end packaging that it arrives in, make this microbrand Swiss-made diver a competitive alternative to mainstream brands at a very affordable price.

The specs below appear on Meraud’s website for this watch and are reproduced for convenience. Here's the link to the website: Méraud Bonaire MkI – meraud-watches

There’s a review of this Bonaire, including the movement and bracelet, that you'll find to be a worthwhile read if considering this diver, at 【F】 Hands-On With The Brand-New Méraud Bonaire MkII

Zero issues with… Dave’s Bonaire, it’s just slightly too large for me, even with the adjustable strap. Dave mentioned that the watch has never been submerged in water, and I can attest to the same. Winds and sets buttery- smooth and keeps time well within specs. Worn by Dave only a handful of times, (and only 3x by me, indoors,) and still looks essentially new in all respects. Comes with its removed links, factory papers and boxes as originally received directly from Meraud.

Here's the picture gallery. All taken the day of first listing...5-4-25, (and with permission, re-used by me on Saturday, May 10).

Priced to sell at $1500 + Flagship shipping. Payment by e-transfer. Price is firm. No trades SVP.
