Sold OMEGA SPEEDMASTER MITSUKOSHI PANDA CUSTOM BUILD

Why own a basic black dial Moonwatch? That's what I thought a few years back when I saw this model on a watch board. We all know about the Mitsukoshi legends, this isn't one, but it is built around an authentic Omega Mitsukoshi panda dial, Alaskan Project red second hand and a Speedmaster case and movement.

It truly is a one of a kind given the customization.

It was assembled during the good old days when watchmakers could still ask for repair parts without having to submit old parts in return (like Rolex) c.2013.

I purchased this watch and had it shipped to me from Europe, thereby starting a love affair which amounted to me unlocking the safe at night, when the wife and kids were asleep, so that I could stare at it's gorgeous panda dials... It was all heavenly and despite my lust for it... my wrists have thinned substantially over the years and now I just can't wear anything over 39mm.

I hardly wore it, as condition will show, and haven't worn it at all in three or four years, so, it's time to move on.

The watch is in like new condition. No scratches, no scuffs, keeps excellent time and everything works as well as the day I received it. I purchased it on a leather strap, but have moved it to a brand new brushed President-style Forstener bracelet which complements the watch incredibly. The watch comes naked, no papers, no box, but I will include a travel case for it.

If you look up the Paul Newman 6263 Rolex Daytona, you'll see that this has pretty much the same look and feel. In my humble opinion, the Mitsukoshi dial is by far the the best looking Speedmaster Pro dial. This is still a better-looking dial than the new all white moonwatches.

The Paul Newman Daytona cost $17M... A Mitsukoshi will run you over $25K...

You can have a very similar moonwatch for $7,950 shipped. :)20240413_160813.jpg20240413_160559.jpg20240413_160703.jpg20240413_160712.jpg20240413_160731.jpg20240413_160551.jpg20240413_160922.jpg20240413_160841.jpg20240413_160515.jpg20240413_161014.jpg20240413_161018.jpg

Thanks for all the interest thus far!

Just to be clear:

- the case is a 42mm Omega 3876.50.31 Speedmaster Moon Phase case

- the movement is an Omega caliber 1866

Some of you have suggested getting it back to a moon phase Speedmaster and selling off the dial and hands. I don't have the time or desire to undertake the conversion... But maybe one of you do?

Last time I looked a Mitsukoshi dial - if you could find it - was selling for around $3k. So maybe it's worth it for one of you...

After giving it some thought, and snapping out of that dial's fresh from the safe, 'glow'... I will also reduce the price to $6950!

Thought I'd post some pics of the watch on a black leather strap. Completely changes the look.

IMO this looks so much better than the all white dials!
