Hello all. I’m looking forward to talking watches. I‘ve always enjoyed watches, but with work, kids etc I didn’t really get into beyond a very surface understanding. I’m semi retired now and my interest (and collection) have been growing in the last couple of years. I have found myself going down the rabbit hole and I’m very much enjoying it. Looking forward to finding other people who enjoy watches too!

Welcome! Where has the rabbit hole taken you so far? 🐇
I have been binging online content from Teddy Baldassarre, Wrist Enthusiast, Hodinkee, Time and Tide plus a few more deep cuts. I currently have 9 watches in my collection from a Casio and Tissot at one end to an IWC perpetual on the other. A couple of Tudors and Breitlings in the mix as well.
My favorite brands (as of right now) are IWC, Glashutte Original, Tudor, Oris for watches I can actually dream of owning.
On the admire from afar list, I love the A. Lange and Sohne Zietwork Date and anything by Roger W Smith. I actually love a lot of the independent watch brands even though they are generally out of reach, but still a lot of fun to look at!

I have a big wrist and I’m north of 6feet tall so anything less than about 41mm (rough guide of course) tends to look too small on me so I favor the bigger watches.

Haha! So far enough down the rabbit hole that you need a flashlight! Well done. BTW, I'm in Victoria also.

Yes, I have descended quite far. Familiar with the histories of most major brands (Cartier, Longine, Glashutte Original, Tudor, IWC, etc).
It’s funny, but my taste in watches has evolved very rapidly in the last year. I find myself admiring pieces that I had dismissed early and moving on from pieces I originally thought were amazing.
I’ve had the opportunity to try on quite a few watches in the last year and I’m finding out that what I like online and what looks good on my wrist are two different things.
And I’m glad the sun is out again here in Victoria today :)
