Up today I have one of those sneaky releases from Omega, the vintage inspired CK859.
This model was inspired by a classic 1939 Omega watch which housed the famous 30T2 manual-winding small seconds calibre.
The watch case is 39 mm stainless steel and features the vintage OMEGA logo embossed on the crown, dial and buckle.
Featuring a domed sapphire crystal, an Ag 925 silver dial, blued hands and sub seconds, the dial markings are also transferred in dark blue.
Paired with a supple honey brown leather strap that hones its vintage cues, the watch steps into the 21st century with its METAS certified Co-Axial Chronometer cal 8926, that boasts a 72 hour power reserve.
You wouldn’t expect it of a watch of this style, but the movement is antimagnetic to 15,000 gauss.
The exhibition case back reassures that this is indeed a “Numbered Edition”
A feature I enjoy the most on this model is the jump hour hand, which ensures accurate timekeeping should you decide to cross time zones with this beauty.
As a whole, the watch draws from its heritage with strong vintage vibes paired with modern technology, striking the perfect balance.
Coming in at 39mm, it has a 20mm lug width with a 46mm lug to lug.
There are virtually no signs of wear aside from some that to the leather strap and maybe some faint hairlines if you search desperately for them.
This model featured a rather short production run lasting just about a year, making it highly collectable, as it was introduced without any pomp or circumstance and was similarly discontinued without any fanfare.
Retail was around $11,000 when available
