BERTMAR "Watersafe" Explorer Dial cal. AS 1686 17 Jewels Rotating Bezel Chromed
This is the last watch I'm going to be selling for a while; taking a break for personal reasons.
A nice vintage Canadian marked watch with an interesting dial. From The Internet Horology Club 185 forum:
Bertmar was the house brand name for watches sold by People's (Credit) Jewellers, likely up until the late 1970s or early 1980s. The founder, Frank Gerstein, had two sons in the business. Their names were Bert(rand) and Mar(vin), hence the Bertmar name. People's had stores all across Canada, from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. So it would nor be possible to narrow it down as to where it was originally sold. When Frank was running the business, it was located primarily in Ontario, with catalog stores in many locations across Canada.
