For sale is my Jaeger‑LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Hometime GMT 230.8.77, a classy, bold and highly functional take on one of watchmaking’s most iconic designs. Crafted by Jaeger‑LeCoultre, this piece blends the unmistakable Art Deco Reverso heritage with true travel-ready functionality, making it far more than just a dress watch.
Originally introduced as part of the Reverso’s modern evolution, the Squadra line brings a sportier, more contemporary case design while retaining the signature reversible mechanism that defines the collection. The stainless steel case wears comfortably with strong wrist presence, offering a perfect balance between elegance and versatility.
On the front, you’re presented with a clean silver guilloché dial featuring applied indices, a date display, and a full GMT / Hometime function. Designed for travelers, it allows you to track a second time zone with ease, complemented by an AM/PM indicator—making it both practical and intuitive whether you’re crossing time zones or just keeping tabs on another city.
Flip the case over, and this is where the watch truly comes to life. The iconic Reverso mechanism reveals a sapphire exhibition caseback, giving you a direct view into the in-house automatic movement. It transforms the watch from a clean, classic front-facing piece into something far more technical and engaging—essentially two watches in one. The reversing case itself was originally designed in 1931 to protect the dial during polo matches, and remains one of the most distinctive innovations in horology.
Inside beats a Jaeger-LeCoultre automatic calibre (Cal. 977/997 family), offering reliable timekeeping, smooth operation, and approximately 45 hours of power reserve. As expected from JLC, the movement is finely finished and engineered entirely in-house, reinforcing the brand’s reputation as the “watchmaker’s watchmaker.”
This example is in good condition. The camera exaggerates the light scratches on the high polish. I suspect with a very light polish this would look like new.
